How Will I Benefit?
Currently, air travel demand and changes in consumption patterns require a new approach in distribution from the supply side. Distribution channels have always been main pillar of airline business. An overview is provided starting with the heavy dependence on Global Distribution Systems to the 4th industrial revolution and Internet of Things, that have contributed to the carriers with the development of their own distribution channels, reducing their costs and generating revenue opportunities. This course aims to provide attendees with insights from latest trends in tourism and travel industry, especially when it comes to distribution. From the airline perspective, commercial strategy on product segmentation and its availability should carefully be structured in order the carriers to successfully exploit the evolution of air services distribution.
Covid19 pandemic crisis has strongly impacted the airline industry. Air transport was the first international pillar of economy that suspended its operations in order to prevent from the virus transmission. Returning to normality after the covid19 era, customer trust and reengagement along with health management seem are challenging the air transport sector. Most of the airlines had already been transformed digitally before the pandemic crisis in order to maximize their revenues, enhance their branding and customer loyalty, and reduce their costs. Further to that, the “digital advantage” that has been inherited to the individuals by the Covid19 era should by exploited by the travel industry in terms of distribution and do-it-yourself (d-i-y) processes. The latest trends in distribution concern a variety of channels mainly digital, including airlines websites, mobile applications and social media. The aspects of such channels allow airlines to perform effective revenue management, customer relationship management and marketing. Loyal passengers’ profiles and travel preferences are in depth analyzed in favor of product customization towards demand increase.
